Ogweno Stephen Among Africa’s Top 10 Innovators: Google for Startups Lagos Experience

In the dynamic world of startups, few opportunities are as transformative as being recognized among the top innovators on the continent. I was humbled to be selected alongside my co-founder, Peace Iraguha, as part of Google for Startups Accelerator Africa’s 8th cohort. Out of nearly 1,000 applications, our company, Lifesten Health, was named one of Africa’s top 10 startups leveraging AI to address critical challenges.

The journey took us to Lagos, Nigeria, where we participated in a week-long masterclass hosted by Google at the stunning Lakoye Resorts. From the moment we arrived, the experience was a whirlwind of inspiration and learning. We connected with fellow entrepreneurs tackling diverse challenges, from healthcare to energy solutions, across Kenya, Rwanda, Nigeria, and South Africa.

For me, the highlight was learning from Google’s experts on key topics like fundraising strategies, product development, and achieving a sustainable work-life balance as founders. These insights weren’t just theoretical—they were actionable lessons that have since shaped how we approach innovation and growth at Lifesten Health.

Lifesten Health’s mission to revolutionize health and wellness through AI-powered screening and incentive-based health programs aligns perfectly with Google’s focus on people and products. Being part of this accelerator has opened doors to new partnerships and strengthened our resolve to scale our impact across Africa.

As we move forward, I’m more committed than ever to driving solutions that empower individuals and communities to lead healthier lives.
