On September 21, 2024, the Stowelink Foundation, in collaboration with Children for Health and the Rahul Kotak Foundation, held a transformative WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) poster validation workshop in Kisumu County. This project is close to my heart because it aligns with my mission to improve public health, especially among children.

Hosted at Alendu and Central Primary Schools, the workshop engaged 80 pupils in validating 10 key hygiene messages, covering handwashing, clean water use, and sanitation. By directly involving children in the process, we ensured the messages were not only clear but also culturally relevant and impactful.

The students’ feedback was invaluable—they simplified complex language, suggested vibrant visuals, and even proposed adjustments to illustrations to make the posters more engaging. Their contributions showcased the importance of participatory health education.

This initiative underscores our commitment to fostering behavioral change through collaboration. The lessons learned—simplicity in messaging, the power of visuals, and the role of peer learning—will shape future projects aimed at empowering children as health advocates in their communities.

I extend my heartfelt thanks to all our partners, including the Rahul Kotak Foundation and Clare Hanbury of Children for Health, whose support made this project a resounding success. Together, we’re shaping a healthier future for Kenya.
