Mombasa, with its rich culture, historic landmarks, and serene coastal views, provided the perfect backdrop for this week’s Leadership in Advocacy and Communications Program. While the training sessions have been enlightening, the city’s charm has also left an indelible mark on me.
Here are some of the moments I captured:
- The iconic Fort Jesus, standing tall as a reminder of Mombasa’s vibrant history and resilience.
- Vibrant Swahili architecture, with intricately carved wooden doors that tell stories of generations past.
- The calming ocean waves at Nyali Beach, a place for reflection and inspiration.
- The bustling Old Town, where culture, tradition, and commerce blend seamlessly.
Mombasa’s beauty has not only inspired creativity but has also reinforced the importance of integrating culture and local contexts into health advocacy.
As I engage in conversations around cardiovascular health and NCDs, I’m reminded of the need to ground our solutions in the communities we serve.
Thank you, Mombasa, for your warmth, lessons, and beauty. This city will always hold a special place in my journey toward creating healthier futures.
