Beyond the conference halls, Lusaka offered me a different kind of learning — one outside policy and into culture. My first impression of Zambia’s capital was how peaceful and green it was. Unlike the constant movement and busyness of Nairobi, Lusaka moved at a calmer rhythm. The city felt balanced — less frantic, yet incredibly well-organized.

The wide roads, clean streets, and modern infrastructure surprised me, especially the Lusaka Convention Centre, where the WHO meetings were hosted. It’s a hyper-modern, architecturally stunning venue that stands as a symbol of progress in the region.

I also explored the local side of Lusaka — from vibrant cultural dancers who gave life to the city’s heartbeat, to the unexpected sight of familiar international brands like Nando’s, nestled between the city’s many organized shopping malls.
