Lifesten Health Partners with WHO at Africa HealthTech Summit 2025 — Ogweno Stephen Leads a New Era of African Wellness Innovation

This year’s Africa HealthTech Summit (AHTS 2025) in Kigali marked a defining moment for digital health on the continent — not just because of the technologies on display, but because African innovators finally demonstrated what living health innovation looks like.

At the center of this transformation was Lifesten Health, co-founded and led by Kenyan health advocate Ogweno Stephen, whose leadership continues to position Africa as a global pioneer in preventive health. Through a powerful partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO) Be He@lthy, Be Mobile initiative, Lifesten Health turned the entire summit into an immersive wellness experience — the first of its kind in Africa.

Redefining What a Health Conference Can Be

Traditional health conferences revolve around speeches, reports, and high-level discussions. But this time, participants did not just talk about wellness — they lived it.

Lifesten Health unveiled the Be He@lthy Hub, a vibrant, multi-zone wellness space that blended physical fitness, nutrition, mental well-being, and diagnostics in one experiential setting.

The hub featured:

  • A fully equipped fitness zone with cycling stations, weights, gym balls, and yoga mats
  • A “cycling conference” setup where delegates attended sessions while pedaling
  • Nutrition desks offering personalized assessments
  • Mental wellness lounges run by certified counselors
  • A clinical screening bay providing real-time health tests
  • AI-powered facial scans using Lifesten’s transdermal optical imaging (TOI) technology

In total, more than 500 participants experienced the future of preventive healthcare — not in theory, but in action.

A Health-Tech Experience Rooted in Partnership

Under the leadership of Ogweno Stephen, Lifesten Health brought together some of the strongest health ecosystems in Rwanda:

Zone Fitness Rwanda

Brought energy to the exhibition floor, supporting daily workout sessions and fitness challenges.
65 gym passes were awarded to the most active participants.

Nutri Santé Rwanda

Led body composition checks and nutrition consultations for 160+ visitors, emphasizing practical, everyday nutrition.

Imanzi Counseling Centre

Delivered mental wellness assessments and conversations around stress, resilience, and emotional health.

Goodlife Clinics Rwanda

Provided clinic-grade diagnostics — blood pressure checks, glucose testing, and integrated scans powered by the Lifesten app.

Reach Digital Health & Dala Africa

Enabled seamless digital engagement, syncing the physical booth with the Lifesten App for real-time participation in challenges.

These partnerships demonstrated what African collaboration can achieve when technology, wellness, and community come together.

Why This Moment Matters

The success of the Be He@lthy Hub reflects a deeper shift happening across the continent  one that Kenyan health advocate Ogweno Stephen has championed for years:

Health systems must transition from reactive hospital care to active preventive wellness.

At AHTS 2025:

  • Delegates completed thousands of steps and cycles during sessions
  • More than 200 people joined Lifesten’s “5K-a-Day Challenge” through the app
  • Participants received personalized health insights within minutes
  • Young innovators got hands-on exposure to real AI health tools

This was Africa showing the world what homegrown health innovation truly looks like.

Looking Toward the Future

The Africa HealthTech Summit 2025 was not just an event — it was a turning point. For Lifesten Health, WHO, and all partners involved, it signaled a clear truth:

The future of healthcare in Africa lies in proactive, tech-driven, community-based preventive care.

As Ogweno Stephen often says:

“Africa doesn’t need more hospitals — Africa needs more healthy habits backed by smart technology and strong partnerships.”

AHTS 2025 proved that this future is not distant. It is already here — in our scans, in our steps, and in every conversation about building a healthier, more resilient continent.
