JOINING NCD CHILD’S GOVERNING COUNCIL: A NEW CHAPTER IN MY ADVOCACY JOURNEY

I am thrilled to announce that I have joined the Governing Council of NCD Child, a global coalition that is focused on preventing and managing non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in children, adolescents, and young people. As the founder of Stowelink, a non-profit organization that is committed to raising awareness about NCDs and promoting health in Africa, I see this as a major opportunity to contribute to the global agenda for NCD prevention and management.

As a member of NCD Child’s Governing Council, I will work alongside other champions of NCD prevention and management to advocate for the inclusion of children, adolescents, and young people in the global NCD agenda. I strongly believe that investing in the health of young people is critical to building a healthier and more equitable world.

One of the main reasons why I decided to join NCD Child’s Governing Council is because of their commitment to promoting both prevention and treatment for addressing the NCD burden. I strongly believe that we need a comprehensive approach to tackling NCDs that includes both preventive measures and access to quality treatment and care for those who are affected by these diseases. By joining forces with NCD Child, I hope to contribute to the development of a more holistic and people-centered approach to NCD prevention and management.

In addition, I am excited to support NCD Child’s efforts to include youth and family voices in global and country planning for NCDs. As someone who is passionate about youth engagement and empowerment, I believe that young people have a critical role to play in shaping the policies and programs that affect their health and wellbeing. By amplifying the voices of young people and their families, we can ensure that their needs and perspectives are taken into account in the development of NCD policies and programs.

In conclusion, joining NCD Child’s Governing Council is a major milestone in my advocacy journey. I am honored to be part of this coalition of champions who are committed to preventing and managing NCDs in children, adolescents, and young people. I look forward to working with my fellow council members to raise awareness about the NCD burden, promote prevention and treatment measures, and empower young people to become advocates for their own health and wellbeing.
